Michelle moved to Denver, Colorado, at the end of October 2000, after having worked as Assistant to the Director of Missions at the North Atlanta Church of Christ. She moved along with several other families and singles in an effort to help with an English-speaking church plant in Douglas County, one of the fastest growing couties in the United States. They also had as a major goal the planting of Spanish-speaking congregations. One third of Denver's population is Spanish-speaking and there was no Spanish-speaking church of Christ in the Denver-metro area.

The Church of Christ in Douglas County has grown to an attendance of about 120 each Sunday. There are now three Spanish-speaking congregations in the Denver metro area with a total average Sunday attendance of 60.
