September 9, 2006

Many of you have wondered where I have been since you haven't heard from me
in over a month. I apologize for the delay in this e-mail update, but I can't
wait for you to rejoice with us to hear all God is doing!

As of September 1, I am an official home-owner! My Christian family in Baton
Rouge helped me find the right house and the right loan opportunity (special
post-Katrina first-time home-buyer loans). It was an opportunity that I
couldn't pass up ( 4.55% interest, 4.5% gift, 100% of purchase price for the
loan amount). So I flew to Denver; packed up my stuff; then my mom
accompanied me in the moving truck; and my sisters, Jenn and Kim helped out
with the move/cleaning/painting. It was an exhausting trip, but well
worth the blessings. It all happened so quickly so as to not take away from
all we are doing in East Caracas.

Even though many of you did not have the opportunity to visit the work in
Venezuela. I hope that you can stay with me at 9420 Samoa Ave. in Baton Rouge
and rejoice with us in the Campus Ministry there. Please understand that this
does NOT change any of my plans to make a smooth transition here in Caracas.
My start date of March 1, 2007, in Baton Rouge remains. One of the college
students from LSU will be house-sitting for me until I arrive -- another of
the Lord's blessings in this transition.

The month of August started with a quick trip to Bogota to renew my visa. It
is always a joy to worship and work with that church. I was there when it was
established in March 2000 and I am humbled to see God continue to work in
their lives. Rafael and Sonia Valderrama continue to serve the Lord's family
there and are my gracious hosts when I go. In addition to the individual and
group Bible studies I'm able to have with the women, a local holiday allowed
more women to attend a ladies' Bible class the day before I left. Please
don't forget to check out all of the pictures and stories from that trip (

I have also posted pictures from the Area-Wide Church Service hosted by the
Church of Christ in San Antonio de los Altos on Sunday, August 13. More than
a dozen churches from Central Venezuela were represented. Thirty-six of our
members and visitors were able to share in the fellowship and blessing of
worshipping with family and friends from other congregations. The East
Caracas congregation is looking forward to hosting the 2007 area-wide
service.

August 17th marked the departure date for the East Caracas mission trip to
the Amazon. As soon as I returned from Bogota, the church in East Caracas
kicked into full gear for the final preparations. Twelve was the final number
that was able to go and God blessed our efforts beyond words. During the week
we spent there, we visited four communities and the city that supports much
of the Amazon. We worked with the children, preached the gospel and with nine
baptisms, a church was established in a community where the gospel had never
been preached. There is so much to tell that I will be dedicating an entire
e-mail to those stories. I'm almost finished editing the pictures that help
tell the story as well. Please pray for the church in the Amazon and the
tremendous needs of the people there. It was a joy to be with them and learn
from them.

Thank you for your constant prayers and support of the work here in East
Caracas. God is blessing us with numerical and spiritual growth. We will
actually be starting a new "charla" (Bible study chat) on Thursday evenings
at my house. This study will be focused on Paul's epistles. Tomorrow,
(Saturday, Sept. 9) Robbie Ruiz, from the church in Puerto La Cruz, will be
with us for the monthly ladies' Bible study. Tomorrow's theme is: Transformed
by Forgiveness. We're all looking forward to the time shared with that
family. Her husband, Denis, the preacher in Puerto La Cruz, will be preaching
for us on Sunday. The Ruiz family is also supported by the South Baton Rouge
Church of Christ. I had visited Puerto La Cruz earlier this year to help with
a campaign and their coming this weekend is just more of the blessings of
working together in God's family.

May God's blessings be upon you all. Your prayers and notes mean so much to
me and the church here. I still hope that many of you can visit us and be
blessed by seeing the Lord's Work in other countries.

In Him and for Him,

M.
