Finely ground cornmeal mixed with chicken broth forms the base for the hallaca. The mixture that goes below the chopped vegetable "decorations" containes beef, pork, chicken, and many finely chopped vegetables. Nicely sliced onion, bell pepper, olive and raisin go on top before rolling the entire hallaca into the banana leaf to be boiled.
