Michelle Goff moved to Caracas, Venezuela, March 2003 to work full-time with a new congregation planted in the east side of this capital city of over six million people. She has made a long-term commitment to the work in Venezuela. This timeline provides a brief sample of all God has been doing through Michelle and others in East Caracas.
 
2006 & 2007 Highlights

Area-Wide Worship Service
Over 450 Christians and visitors gathered together on Sunday, January 28 to worship together. The event was hosted by the East Caracas congregation.
 
Christmas in Venezuela

Part of Michelle's family was able to visit the church in East Caracas (and her) during the holidays. The church was very encouraged and Michelle enjoyed introducing them to everyone and showing them parts of Venezuela.

 
English Class Graduation

After three years for the advanced students and a year and a half with the beginning students, a festive graduation was celebrated on Sunday, December 10. Several of the students attended church and the end-of-year party the following Sunday.

 
Hallaca Preparation and Congregational End-of-Year Party

The hallaca preparation is a lot of work, but a tremendous opportunity for fellowship, food and fun. More than twenty helped in the preparation and 101 people were at the party to eat. Over fifty were visitors!

 
Avila Mountain Hike with the Young People
The steepest hike up the mountain was a challenge that united the young people and the devotional reminded them what it meant to be touched by Jesus.
 
Central Venezuelan Women's Retreat
Twelve East Caracas women joined over a hundred other women from twelve congregations for an annual retreat two hours away from Caracas.
 
September and October Activities
Youth Activities, English Class Graduations and New Songbooks were celebrated in September and October. A new Bible study was also started in Michelle's apartment.
 
A Day Filled with Blessings
Sunday, September 10, was a day to remember and mark more of the spiritual and numerical growth in East Caracas. Zulmelly was baptized. Jhonny led singing and God's hand was evident as always.
 
Mission Trip to the Amazon

Twelve from Caracas traveled over 20 hours to preach the gospel where it had never been preached. The church was established in Caño Pasa, an Amazon community, and other communities were encouraged by the visit. Nine were baptized in Caño Pasa.

 
Area-Wide Worship Service

More than a dozen congregations in Central Venezuelan came together on Sunday, August 13 to worship together.

 
Central Venezuelan Youth Camp
Michelle joined two of the East Caracas young people at the Central Venezuelan Youth Camp, hosted by the congregation in Maracay. The theme of leadership was appreciated by the 160 campers and staff.
 
Evangelistic English Class Graduation
Sunday, July 23, the Beginning Level English class students graduated to the Advanced Level.
 
World Cup Fellowship Meal
Sunday, July 9, the church celebrated the World Cup final with a fellowship meal and the opportunity to invite visitors, share special time together and, as always, eat.
 
June 2006 Activities
A youth activity on the beach, Father's Day congratulations, and the baptism of a gentleman in poor health gave much cause for celebration in East Caracas in June.
 
May 2006 Activities

The monthly women's Bible study in May was an all-nighter focused on prayer. It ended the day before a special presenation to the moms on Mother's Day. Also, the married couples made a special outing to go horse-back riding in May.

 
Youth Outing to Colonia Tovar
Saturday, April 22, the youth traveled to a nearby German town in the mountains for a special outing and Bible study.
 
All-Nighter with the Youth and a Baptism
Friday night, March 17, the young people of the congregation spent all night in prayer, Bible study, fellowship, Bible games, and other games. "More than Conquerors" was the theme and at dawn, Juan Carlos Caruci annonced that he wanted to be baptized.
 
Depression and Discouragement Class
After presenting the class in Barquisimeto in February, the ladies in East Caracas were also interested in hearing about what God's Word teaches on the topics of Depression and Discouragement... two topics facing everyone, but often ignored in teaching.
 
Church Outing to the Beach
Twenty-eight adults and children (mostly visitors) piled into a bus on the holiday Monday of Carnaval for a day-trip to the beach. It was a tremendous time of fellowship and bonding for the members and an opportunity to shine God's light to the visitors.
 
Married Couples' Valentines Dinner

February's monthly couples' activity was a special romantic dinner served restaurant-style by a few servant-minded young-people.

 
3rd Anniversary Celebration

The Church of Christ in East Caracas celebrated its third anniversary on Sunday, February 5. A birthday cake, photo presentation of the year's blessings, and fifty-two voices singing Happy Birthday to the church, created a great celebratory spirit.

 
2005 ~ 2006 Transition Pictures

December was filled with festivities and weddings: a good ending to a year filled with challenges and blessings. The End-of-Year Party celebrated the joy, fellowship and relationships established in East Caracas and gave a good kick-off to 2006.
