July in Caracas

Baptisms: Danelys and Janeth have been attending the new charla (Bible study) in Petare (the far east portion of Caracas). Danelys was baptized on Sunday, July 25, and Janeth, the week after that, August 1.

Parque del Este: Saturday, July 24, several of the members, along with many visitors, met at the public park near Luis and Fabiola's house to share a morning of fellowship and fun. The park also has a small lake and a zoo, which were also enjoyed by all.

July 4th Party: Since July 4th fell on a Sunday, Michelle invited the congregation and the more advanced English class for lunch at her apartment. She prepared a typical American meal with watermelon, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, biscuits, brownies and Coke floats. This was the same Sunday that the congregation had a record attendance of 43!

Visits, Challenges and Blessings: Michelle has been able to visit several other congregations throughout Venezuela because of the challenges of getting her car fixed and in working order to better benefit the work in East Caracas (after the car hit a huge hole in Barinas, just after a campaign there). One such visit was to Yaritagua (building pictured below). On the way back to Caracas with the car (after more than a month without it), the car was side-swiped at a convenience store along the highway. Challenges create growth, right?! The blessings have been the time spent with other brothers and sisters in other cities -- working with, encouraging and being encouraged by them.
